Nidlinger Farms Incorporated is a family farming operation incorporated in 1988 by John Nidlinger (President), Duane kiess (Vice President), and Nan Nidlinger (Secretary/Treasurer). The current Management team consists of John, Nan, Duane, and JD Nidlinger

John Nidlinger

John  graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Economics, and upon graduation returned home to Decatur, Indiana to begin his path of being the fifth generation in his family to farm in the local area. In addition to farming, John has served on Senator Richard Lugar's personal staff as Agriculture Liaison (1999-2001), and also served as the Indiana Farm Service Agency State Executive Director from 2001-2006. John has continued his education by attending Texas A&M's  Executive Program for Agriculture Producers (TEPAP), as well as being an active member of the TEPAP alumni group AAPEX (Association of Agriculture Producer Executives).

In 2017 John was recognized by the Purdue University Department of Agricultural Economics as a recipient of the APEX award. The APEX award is presented to honor individuals with a strong connection to the Department who have made outstanding contributions in their fields. In 2016, John and his wife Nan were named Indiana Master Farmers and the team at Nidlinger Farms Inc. hosted the 2016 Purdue Farm Management Tour.  John is called on frequently by Purdue University Professors to share his knowledge with Purdue Farm Management students. John's daily responsibilities include grain marketing, landlord relations, and operations management.

John is a member of Zion Friedheim Lutheran Church.  He and his wife Nan have three grown children John, Kylene, and Matthew as well as eight grandchildren. 


Duane Kiess

Duane Kiess serves as Vice President of Nidlinger Farms Incorporated. Duane's responsibilities include running the operations grain setup. He also coordinates various precision farming activities including variable rate fertilizer prescriptions, variable rate seeding, and soil sampling. Throughout the growing season you will find Duane operating the sprayer across the fields.  Duane holds a commercial applicators license as well as his Commercial Drivers License (CDL).

Throughout the community Duane has served on various boards including BZA and Plan Commission as well as being involved as a volunteer in the local 4-H program. Duane was a member and officer of the Indiana Soil and Water Conservation District Board, and also chairman of the Adams County Plan Commission and Board of Zoning and Appeals, as well as a former member of the Maumee River Basin Commission. Duane has continued his edcuation by attending various training sessions and conferences relating to precision farming. 

Duane is a member of Zion Friedheim Lutheran Church.  He and his wife Lisa have two grown children, Shawn and Shelby. 


Nan Nidlinger

Nan Nidlinger is Secretary/Treasurer of Nidlinger Farms Incorporated.  Nan recently retired from Indiana Farm Bureau where she spent nearly 15 years as a local Insurance Agent helping guide the operation, as well as others in the community, through the ins and outs of crop insurance.  Prior to joining Farm Bureau Nan served as Circuit Court Clerk of Adams County.  Active in her local community Nan is a member of Zion Friedheim Lutheran Church,  Psi Iota Xi, and the Lutheran Foundation, where she served on the Board of Directors.  John and Nan have three grown children, John, Kylene, and Matthew as well as ten grandchildren. 


JD Nidlinger

Jd is the sixth generation of the Nidlinger family to farm.  JD’s responsibilities around the farm include purchasing of inputs, application of fertilizer and lime, planting of soybeans, ditching machine operation, as well as transitioning into Nan’s role as Secretary/Treasurer where he manages accounts payable, accounts receivable as well as financial record keeping.   JD is also an independent sales representative for Pioneer Hi-Bred International. In this role he receives agronomy training to keep him up to date on the latest research to provide NFI and other seed customers the best service possible.

JD is married to Casey, and they have 3 children, Elaine (12) and Evelyn (10), and John W (4).

JD received his bachelors degree in Agriculture Economics from Purdue University.  JD has continued his education by attending Texas A&M's Executive Program for Agriculture Producers as well as AAPEX. Jd currently serves on the Adams County Drainae Board. He is a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity as well as Zion Friedheim Lutheran Church.  In addition to his duties around the farm, JD enjoys spending time with his family and snow skiing in the winter months.
